Good morning, good afternoon and good evening- tried to cover as many time zones as possible.

I recently had a service completed at my local infiniti boutique espresso bar and martini lounge; minor stuff, mainly fluid changes. While I was there I asked them of there was an update for the transmission - nothing wrong but sometimes it feels sloppy - so they said Why Yes Sir- that will be $145 - to which I said - NO.

If anyone has had their infinitival dealer execute this work- what did it cost you?

I will call the local nissan dealer and see if they are willing to do it.

Thank you in advance for your feed back

so many views and no responses, so let me take on this one:
My understanding those updates are TSBs (Technical Service Bulletins) not a Recalls so TSBs at no charge as long as your car still under warranty. On other hand as least here in US dealers you can always try to negotiate the price and no, Nissan dealers won't have access to Infiniti's TSBs.

Also, here is the site where you can search for all available TSBs for your year and see what is out there:

Any new status on this? Is there an upgraded software package for our transmissions? Good post!

yes there is dealer wanted 145 bucks plus tax to flash the transmission software. I am told the shifting is smoother and less hunting in stop and go traffic. I can not say that my car needs the reflash- however, i think is is a good idea to have the latest software version available when it is available. I am disappointed that the dealer was trying to pick my pocket for something that is maybe 15 min work for the tech.

I guess someone has to pay for the free bottled water and leather boutique chairs.

hate to bring up this old of a thread but it's the newest one on the subject I could find. I just got off the phone with rickenbaugh Infiniti asking how much it would be to perform the transmission firmware upgrade.

after a very rude and exasperated exchange (on his part, at first) he told me basically that everything I've read on the internet about this subject was false and this service bulletin was nonexistent and I was an idiot for thinking it could have ever possibly been a thing

how would I go about bringing this up? the guy made me feel like a real jack a** so I'll be either calling the local Nissan dealer or an Infiniti dealer about 20 minutes further south. I just don't want to go through this same thing again and maybe not able to accurately portray what I'm talking about

I have an 06 m35 awd

Hmmm, as I recall, we have many of the TSB's in our service manual section (see link in my sig). If it is not there, please post back here and I will look in the folder of TSB files I have on my computer at home for your specific model year.

For a "$20 fee for a day" charge, by the way, you can also access these bulletins at a technical Infiniti web-site - I don't have the URL handy, but will look for it. If there is indeed one for your model year, then that is the leverage you can use with the dealer.

Also, please consider contacting Infiniti Customer support at their headquarters - they are remarkably good at helping with issues like this.

Ancient post but let me chime in here. There is a recall for our Accelerator pedal which addresses issues similar to these symptoms and it's free. Try that first and if you're still not satisfied try having an uprev tuner play with your transmission tables to increase the driveability. My tuner went on a ride with me and tuned it so that when I drive normally without the lead foot the transmission shifts smoothly. If I drive with my lead foot then the transmission shifts so quick and hard it feels like it'll rip the driveshaft in half.

how do I go about getting it for free? I have to find someone that does tuning as well.
