I have an automatic 03 3.5se with the vq engine that has 225, 000 miles on it and about 1 1/2 to 2 yrs ago my transmission started slipping from 1st into 2nd gear after having it power flushed. After about 3 months it decided to not shift at all so I had her towed to a shop to have a diagnostdiagnostic done and what I was told did not make me happy at all. They told me that the 02s to the 06s 3.5 altimas and the maximas had an issue with the bands stretching and causing this problem at about 85, 000 to 90, 000 miles but had no recall. When I bought her she already had 129, 000 on her so I thought how come its happening now. Apparently the previous owner had replaced the transmission already so the one she had when I bought her wasn't the original one. So to say the least I had it rebuilt at the cost of my first newborn. I was wondering if this in fact is true and if so how many others gave had the same issue and why didnt nissan do a recall. I stil lovel my altima and would definitely buy another nissan before any other brand and will plan on keeping my baby.....its nismo or nothing
