I just picked up a 2012 Infiniti M 37 77,000 miles on it. I’m noticing that the car drives a little different than the previous Indiniti’s I’ve owned. I know the transmission normally adapts to the driver however I feel like this car acceleration/downshift is all over the place. I read a few people had their transmissions re-programmed. Was there a fee charged by the dealer ?

Downshifts by virtue of what they are and when they are needed are by nature 'all over the place', maybe it would help to describe a bit better what you expect or don't like. Acceleration of course being the same way.

There's an ecu reprogram sequence that resets the transmission. Its on one of the threads in this forum not sure which one might help a little. I find that putting the car in sport mode and when driving aggressively and then back in normal when not helps a lot.

i took my 2011 in at around the same mileage out of warranty. i was having some other maintenence stuff done and asked if they would do it no charge. make sure to print that TSB out though otherwise they wont know what you are talking about.

also, if you haven't cleaned your Throttle bodies yet i would do that as well. super easy DIY and noticeable at that mileage.

In general though, the 7AT and programming for our Ms at least the early 2011-2012 models is total crap. its constantly trying to get into the highest gear possible and takes forever to downshift or if you put your foot into it, it will bog and not downshift, then finally figure it out and way overshift. Im in sport mode 100% of the time now, and drive with the manual shift alot as well.

Yup. If the car is outside the power-train warranty they will want to charge for the programming.

depends on the dealer. west houston did it no charge when i was in for an oil change, as long as i gave them a 10/10 rating on the infiniti survey that gets sent out after service. i brought in the TSB and they did it for me.

Yep. Mine charged me, and I was in for a 60k mile service, not an oil change :frown:
To add insult to injury, I had the timing chain recall done not long after that, in which most of the fluids I paid for was changed again for free LOL

So do I just walk in and ask to have my transmission reprogrammed when I get my next oil change? my car is still under warranty for another 1000 miles
