My transmission is not switching the gears like it should anymore. I saw a kit for $210 on rockauto.com for my 96 maxima. Is the kit really that cheap? or are there other parts neccessary. I have a mechanic and all i need is the parts.

Rebuild kits are actually pretty simple parts-wise. Usually includes new clutches and papers, new seals/gaskets, etc. It just replaces wear items. Also make sure you pay attention to what kind of rebuilt kit you're buying. Some will make minor changes to seals and valve body passages that will change the way the transmission behaves (usually for faster, harder shifts). Usually "performance" rebuild kits are just called "shift kits." If you want to stick with OEM shift behavior, make sure to avoid performance rebuild kits.

I guess I will go with performance. Btw about how many hours of labor will it take to rebuild it??
