right now i have an auto trans,
many of you prolly are asking why,
but i got a good deal for the motor as it was already wired for an s13, runs beautifully, and it's sitting in a vert that i'll be selling to a friend once the motor is out.
i am going to more than likely run with the auto transmission for a while as i don't see it diminishing the fun of driving a little boosted 240 for a while.
money has been coming in slowly so i just want to enjoy a reliable 240 that's fun to drive.
i have realized that rb25 manual transmissions are quite expensive, ranging anywhere from 800 (slightly damaged) to 2600 (brand new) and that is pretty pricey for my income.
i have read that vg30 transmissions use the same gears as the rb's and that makes it a great alternate when i eventually go 5 speed, especially knowing it bolt's right up to the rb bellhousing.
it is longer than the rb25 trans but there is a bracket out there that solves the shifter location issue.
that seem's good but at the same time, i'd have to get a manual trans bellhousing which would be at least a few hundred, raising the total cost close to just buying the rb25 trans (with bellhousing).
another alternative i've been contemplating is using an rb20 transmission.
i'm prepared to be flamed about the idea but they are going to be way cheaper for me and from what i've noticed they can hold more than enough power for my goals for the near future.
but i've read that pretty much everyone says it is pointless, the rb20 trans will get destroyed, yadda yadda ya.
my power goal is a MAX 350hp.
i don't plan on going any higher than that for a long time as it is just unnecessary to have any more than that for a while.
when the time comes for me to go higher, i'll be making enough money to not have this question.
but for now, my basic question is:
how will an rb20 transmission do if mated to an rb25 that is 100% or very close to stock? 350hp is the limit.
i have searched here, google, and rbforums and haven't found the info i'm looking for.
for those that flame, that's fine lol
for those that have helpful info, thanks.
