So I have about 2 transmissions In my possession. The one i'm currently trying out, Has some sort of Issue that I cant figure out what it is.. Maybe bent shift forks? or something else idk.. Basically, When I put the shifter in and bolted it down, I go and try to shift through all the gears to see if it's good or not, And it gets stuck. Currently it's stuck in neutral in between first and second, And it will not budge.. Wont slide out of that spot. So I dont think that transmission is good.

Anyways, I have another transmission that has been sitting outside for about a few months, Without a bellhousing.. So all the gears and bearings are exposed and have weathered. It has a good ammount of surface rust, But I was wondering.. Will that stop the transmission from working at all? I have checked all the bearings, and they're in good condition, Still spin smoothly and everything. I'm just worried about the surface rust.. Will it harm anything? If I was to use it, and changed the fluid after the first or second day of driving the car, will it be alright?

I'm no transmission guy but I would have to say it would not be good to have rust in the transmission. But if it was me and I had two paperweight ttrannys I would use the guide on this site to either rebuild the transmission in the car or make one transmission out of two. transmission transmission transmission it sounds weird if you say it alot.
