The ka24e/de and naps-z engine share the same bellhousing pattern, starter pattern and flywheel pattern, so it will bolt right up and work. Just check the location of the shifter to make sure its not too far forward or backward. The gear ratios might me a hair or two different between truck and car models, but they are out there somewhere if you want to search for them.

Would you guys recommend a synthetic transmission fluid for an 89 with close to 300,000 on the transmission?

Jay Leno always recommends Redline MTL synthetic maual transmission lube, says he uses it in every stick shift car he has dating from the early 1900's to today's cars. He thought the synchro's were bad in his 1970's Hemi 4-speed, and he said the MTL basically fixed it, and now it shifts great. If you have no leaks, you can't go wrong with this stuff.

I don't know kiba, I currently have a mix of ATF, 5w30, 10w30, 10w40, and Lucas stabilizer, and they are all new fresh oil, and they mix together perfectly. I haven't had any problems, but if one should arise, I'll change it out. The main thing is that its all the way full, and its not too thinned out. The manual reccomends just straight ATF for my FS5W71C, but I think your transmission is a different model, the same one I had in my old 87, which I ran 20w50 in. It didn't always shift really great, especially when trying to race it, so in your case, I would try MTL, unless you have a bunch of royal purple laying around, then use that, but I'm gonna say MTL would be best, simply because Jay Leno so adamantly recommends it. BTW Coreylol, sorry to jack your thread up, I did try to answer your question in the third post down.

Nissan manuals require GL4 and GL4 only. Don't use that other stuff. Get specific GL4 dino, or your local dodge dealer can get you the NV4500 syntetic (Castrol) GL4.

Anything that says it's a replacement for anything other than GL4 will cause soft metal damage in your transmission.
