How many different trans. are there for the 89-93 G50! I have seen them with the small radiator style external cooler attached to the front of the Trans. pan return line. I have seen them with no external cooler attached to the Trans. pan! Then today I noticed that one had an square opening in the Bell-housing with a screen cover over it just in front of the radiator style external cooler that attaches to the Trans. pan. You could see the back end of the Torque Converter. I'm not talking about the area where your converter bolts are! What are the differences in these Trans? If someone has pics please post and explain what the specifics are!

I am curious about this as well... there seems to be a lot of "maybe" about the difference in the transmission's that were swapped under warranty.

Has Nissan/Infiniti ever said anything about the specifics of the replacement, the additional coolers, and why some cars got a pan with a drain plug and some did not?

Only two transmissions as outlined in the Infiniti Articles Forum, and only varied in ratios of the first two gears.

Many different filtering, recall, heat exchange, and TCU schemes. Even a procedure for cleaning the lines and heat exchangers of some of the early ones.

Why I recommend getting the TSB also. The FSM is not sufficient.
