Transmission Problems

Hello,

I took my transmission off today and found that the faceplate was cracked and most of the fluid had leaked out. I removed the faceplate and the bearing below the shaft was damaged. Several of the ball bearings had come out. How easy is it to replace this bearing? I looked in the service manual and it looks like I need to remove the transmission case from the rear extension at the adapter but could not get it apart. I know that the adapter is glued and bolted on, but after removing the bolts it is still very tight. I guess it would be though since it has been attached for 12 years. I have a 93 240sx manual transmission. How much should I expect to spend if I have to buy a new or used transmission?
