Transmission problems ..Question.

What sounds if any does a transmission runnign low on fluids make?i have a small leak and at this past drift prac. day when it got hot she started leaking fluid alot faster. then stopped. when cooled down.

i tried opening the side drain plug to find out how much is in there but cant get the dam thing open.

jw if trannys low on fluid make noiseswhining noises and such.

id hate to flush it again and put more in there since i did it not too long ago.

If it's making noise, I think it's too late. If you have a leaking seal somewhere, it's going to leak more as the trans heats up. If it were almost dry I suppose it could make a whining noise, but even if you fill it up and it goes away, be on the lookout for another trans.

I needed a wrench and a pipe to get my fill plug off, and a 1/2" impact to get the drain off. I forget the exact numbers, but I did a lot of research a while back and it is safe to use a modern synthetic (GL-5 I think?) in place of the factory spec (GL-4?).

orrr find out where its leaking from? could just be the pan gasket or something stupid.

The trans is either going, or its going because its low on fluid. Probably the latter, and im pretty positive he had a 5 speed. Its most likely your rear seal.get a half inch braker with a pipe, that will do the trick. Just watch the angle u do it at so u dont strip it. Look for metal shards or any debris in your fluids. Good luck, if u need a trans I got one for 50$ for you

ill keep that i mind.ill do one more fluid flush and try to fix the leaks before i go for another transmission.

is that an SR transmission for 50bucks you have?

lol it's a ka, i want to keep the bellhousing off of it so you'd have to swap yours over. im going to be using the bellhousing for future v8 endeavors....

the transmissino is located in dale city, va right now. I dont know how far that is from you... but if you want to pick it up I can arrange something
