I've notice an odd problem with the transmission in my 90 Q45.When in park and neutral the transmission makes a grinding noise. It made the same noise in both reverse and 1st gear when moving and goes away if you put it into 2nd. Now 2 days after the initial problem I parked at work today and now the car's transmission appears to be fighting with it's self. in park it acts like it's in 2nd but doesn't move, in other words the car will not rev freely and is limited to about 1800 rpms max with the throttle hammered(stall speed?). In revese much of the same, it will not go backwards(i'm on a slight incline foward so i'm not sure if it's trying to go foward through the transmission or gravity.) Nuetral seems to creep foward but i'm not sure if it has to do with being on an incline or the transmission pushing it.My guess is the 2nd gear band is stuck on for some reason, but i'm no transmission expert. Fluid is good, doesn't smell burnt and is up to it proper level. Does anyone have any ideas to get this thing in reverse so I can get it to a shop tomorrow? The transmission is still under warrenty but I rather not have to get it towed since prices for towing are astronomical these days.

How many miles are on the car? Do you have an external cooler?

Never tow! Always flatbed! Why one always has towing insurance.

With no maintenance history (and maybe not maintenance?) best to plan on saving for an OEM rebuild from Joe.

When things start making noise that arent supposed ot make noise thats when you ride it out best you can.

Take the pan off and the filter and see if theres a bunch of crap in there.
