I recently had a minor wreck to my 1995 J30t (85,000 miles) that damaged my front right headlight, bumper, and quater panel. The car is still driveable, but on my way to get it looked at the transmission wasn't shifting into OD on the highway. It would shift fine from 1st thru 3rd. I also noticed that my gear shifter wasnt working when I tried manaully downshifting into 2nd or 1st while driving around 20 mph. My car has never had any kind of transmission problems before I got into a wreck. Does anyone think the wreck had anything to do with my transmission acting up or is it just coincidence? I was hoping the problem would be electrical or something minor. Thanks in advance for any help or suggestions.

Was any damage done to the radiator ??The lower quarter of the radiator is the OEM transmission cooler. If that was crimped you could be starving the transmission. Not good at all !!!

Not trying to scare ya ..Could also be a linkage issue.

I had a mechanic look at it for cosmetic damages and he said that the front end was pushed up against the radiator, but it wasnt damaged or malfunctioning. I am taking it to a transmission mechanic tonight to have him take a look at it. I just dont want to get ripped off by him telling me something is wrong that isnt. Do you have any advice to where i should tell the mechanic to look for why the transmission isnt functioning properly? Will it be pricey if it is something you suggested? Its just seems weird to me that the car is doing that after a wreck to the front end. Thanks for all of your help Yoda!

Well I took it into the transmission mechanic and they said they couldn't find anything wrong with the car. They said they test drove it 5 times and couldnt find anything. The guy seems to think it is electrical in some way, but the only to find out is to do diagnostics on it that they charge $70/hour. Any thoughts on what it might be? They said the revolution sensor cleared out, so that isnt the problem either.
