Hello , I have J30t and right now I have serious problem with my transmission.I bought the car a few months ago from dealer.Everything started when one day something happened .The car could start but could not move at all. Then I found out that the transmission oil is bad and not enough. After change it +the filter the car was ok for awhile until a couple week later that happend again. Now there is some weird noise in the transmission and there is no reverse at all.I'd be glad if anybody can tell what I can do about it.I checked some place for rebuilding transmissionsand it is so expensive about 2000$ to rebuild.Eny way to buy another transmission isn't cheap too, but if anybody knows or have any ideas what is wrong with mine or where I can buy another not so expensive one I will be glad. thanks in advance

Welcome to NICO!

Sounds like your transmission is shot.

I would check the Infiniti classified forums on this site, to see if any transmissions are available. Your other option is a local auto recycler or salvage yard. You may find a cheap working one........how long it will last is anybody's guess.

Whenever one buys a used car setting up a reserve account for unknown wear [worn out items] is almost mandatory.

I always use $3,000 as the minimum.

Unfortunately used junkyard trannies are a serious gamble as they are worn and have sat unused for years and the seals and internals may be beyond rehabilitation.

The 6 hours labor costs as much as the used transmission and you may get to spend it over and over and over again until you get a good one. Then that unit may only last a short time.

If you plan on keeping the car for 5 years then a Nissan remanned from a Nissan dealer is the best long term solution............prorated that's only $600 per year plus interest.

A new one is 3K. But you can check the local salvage stores and should be able to get a good tanny for 600-800 USD. I normally use http://car-part.com/cgi-bin/search.cgi to check the avaliability...
