Alright so I just got my 90 ka24e running, Ive had 3 motors go bad in the past two years, I havent even put more than 2000 miles on this car myself in the two years ive had it. And about a week ago, I got a new engine to put in it, and it runs the best it ever has, no rattles, no knocks, no weird noises. Well a couple days ago it started making this weird noise, I believe coming from the transmission, now this is the same transmission that has been in it the past two years. Any time I just push the clutch in or try to put it in gear from neutral it makes this griding noise, sounds like Im missing a gear but Im not. Sometimes it does, sometimes it doesnt. Is a new clutch the solution? This hasnt happened to me before in any car and just making sure before I shell out more money.
Im scared to even drive the thing right now bc of all the problems ive had wrong with this car, the smallest weird noise, and this car is parked until i figure out why.

Well do you have a aftermarket clutch?? Also did you remove the damper box from underneath the car? Check your MC for low level of fluid.

regardless the fix, you are going to be dropping the trans.

Which isn't complicated at all. like 10-11 bolts including the 2 starter.
Drop the drive shaft, grab a jack and support it, Take out shifter, drop the trans mount and wiggle it out and mind the sensors. 3 switches and a speed sensor. inspect clutch and freshen up the trans.

And drain the trans before removing, examine fluid for metals. PBblaster is your friend.
