Hey, I bought a rebuilt transmission a while ago, and its geared unusually high in my opinion, but i dont remember the other one too well. I noticed that it pops out of 5th gear as soon as you give it any load.. and it feels as if it doesnt really fully go into gear. Im sure it was a rebuilt transmission, but maybe either someone messed up inside with a sycro or something, or maybe my actual little shifter pin is wore out or something? any ideas? i dont use my 5th gear cause 4th will take it all the way to 90mph @ 4k rpm... but id like to use it

Thanks

I'd contact whoever re-built the transmission and confront them. If they warranty their work, you might be due a refund.

check for hydraulic leaks in the clutch line... if you don't find any, sadly enough, whoever rebuilt it just sucks

I wouldn't be surprised if 5th isn't even fully engaging, sounds like the transmission could have been incorrectly rebuilt. The syncros could be damaged or worn, maybe the old ones were reused. Hard to tell. The shift linkage could also be at fault if things like detent balls are worn, damaged or missing. Sounds like a cheap rebuild just to sell the truck down the road.

Thats what it seems to be. It doesnt feel like its fully engaging, it like halfway goes into 5th. Do you think the syncros are more likely to be the reason, internally, or do you think i should try to order the little washers and spacers where the shifter pins into the transmission? theyre dealer only parts and kinda stupid
