A few weeks ago, I posted about this funky transmission problem i was having. When i back out of my parking spot, it often takes the car a few seconds to engage Reverse. I took it to the dealer and they diagnosed it as a faulty transmission paw. I have never heard of this. Have you guys ever heard of this? They just called me to say that my new transmission has arrived and whether i wanted to schedule an appointment to have it replaced. My car is about to hit 16,000 miles. Im worried if i replace the transmission, they will install a rebuilt one with similar problems or a shorter life. What do I do?l

You said they said your new transmission has arrived, not replacement transmission. I've never heard of them putting remanufactured parts in a new warranty issue. You should ask them though just to be sure.

You don't have much luck with transmissions I guess. Maybe it isn't just Acura trannys....

They probably said "pawl".A pawl is a lever that lets a gear move in only one direction.Like the way a ratchet wrench can only rotate one way till You flip the lever.

I say you have no choice but to do it. I mean what are your options. Drive your car with a faulty transmission or have a new/rebuilt one put in. I don't see why it wouldn't be a new one at 16000K.

the service manager called me today. the transmission is brand new, not a refurb. in any case, the dealer is picking it up monday and leaving me a loaner. ill get my car back sometime tuesday. whatever.
