I just had my 93 J30 transmission flushed and had a transmission cooler added over the weekend. My transmission is overfilled on the dipstick by ~3mm. Is that okay? Must I really drain some of it out so that it is exactly within the Full threshold zone on the dipstick? BTW, when measuring my transmission fluid, I let it idle till it gets warm. Then, I shift through all the gears and then measure the fluid.

Should be fine.

I've seen worse "overfill" conditions working fine.

Good job on adding a cooler!

Thanks!! I will leave the transmission as-is then. I was pretty relieved myself to finally have the transmission cooler installed. Peace-of-mind is priceless.

so its just barely above the hatch lines?

thats OK, however it is better to run it slightly underfilled.
