Any performance issues to report on the 2003 g35 coupe.? Took the car to infinity to check unusual oil consumption yesterday. Associate recommended oil change and to check oil level after 1000 miles. Is there anything that cab be done in the shop to diagnose the issue, instead of waiting 1000 miles? while there, to my surprise she mention that the clutch needs replacement for 3K's. Driving the car home it did not feel the same as when I left it there. I'm taking it to another shop for a 2nd opinion, since car clutch is not slipping while shifting, but trany seems to slip after 3rd gear engagement (clutch is fine?). Car has 56666 miles, I am a second owner, wife drove the car for 20k miles with no issues regular synthetic oil changes every 3k miles, until last oil change a month ago. Infinity dealership tells me warranty that I bought does not the cover clutch, and after I read the fine print in the policy bought ($1500 cost), indeed it does not cover the clutch stuff. Anyway, I need help with recommendations on the situation with other that may have experience issues with clutch, trans, infinity warranty coverage on both and of course the oil consumption issue. thanks for the advice,

Welcome to NICO.

The oil issue is actually going to take closer to 2k miles to deal with. It seems that the oil does not blow by the piston rings until its viscousity lowers. That's what happened on my G.

As for the clutch. I bought my G at 43k miles. The previous owner abused it and had the clutch and flywheel changed at 24k and now at 56k I need a new clutch and flywheel.

Brakes, clutches, belts...etc aren't usually covered by warranty.

If you're ok with the clutch chatter associated with aftermarket flywheels, then you can save yourself a few hundred by going with an aftermarket combo...JWT, Fidanza, Spec...etc. The combo will probably cost you aroun $1100-$1200 and installation will be another $300-$400.

If you go with the factory clutch and flywheel, you won't have the chatter problem, but the whole job will cost around $2200. The factory flywheel is NOT serviceable. Whereas the JWT, Fidanza, and Spec all use a replaceable friction disc so that the flywheel itself doesn't have to replaced, just the $70-$100 friction disc.

Everyhting Sentient has written is true. I had engine that burned oil and I was given a brand new revised engine---had to do the 1,000 mile testing--when next you go there, ask them to give you a quart of oil for free to keep in your trunk just in case. I beat the crap out of my clutch and I had it replaced at 28K which is pretty close to Sentient's remarks. And the cost provided to you by Sentient, is as exact as it can get.
