I tried searching but no real luck..

Does anyone have a DIY on how to do a transmission/differential oil change on R33 skylines?

What transmission oil should I use on Nissans?

Thanks!

Each of them has a drain and a fill plug on them.

Jack the car up, undo drain plug and then undo fill plug to help drain faster.[a full-sized lift is best]

After drained, put the drain plug back in.Get a siphon pump (a big one, the little water pumps aren't good enough). Pump fluids into fill plug until it's full enough that it starts coming out of the fill plug.

transmission is 4 quartsI used Redline Heavyweight Shockproof Gear Oil for my RB26.

Not sure how much dif fluid to use, or what kind...but guess I should look that up myself, too.

cool... Thanks guys

I was told to use the same oil in the LSD as in the transmission.

Does this sound wrong? I know I used two different kinds of oil when I did my S2000's

Same oil? That I couldn't tell you either way, sorry.

But I will say with 100% confidence that the Redline Heavyweight Shockproof is *the* best choice for the the transmission.

yea, I used that in my s2k and lexus...made shifting butter smooth

The place that used to sell redline no longer carries it.

Where do you buy yours? I need to get some pretty soon

There's a place nearby that's a shop for drag cars, called "Bier Brothers"That's the only place in STL I've found that carries it.

But you can mail-order it from a few places.

If you've got the time to wait, I'd just order it online.

Prolly end up cheaper that way.

Dunno about their transmission oil over Redline, but.....

I'm a diehard AmsOil fan. It's the only stuff I'll put in my cars, for engine oil at least. So can't see any fault in going with them, either. Just make sure you use heavyweight, not lightweight.

I changed the oil in the transmission and differential during the weekend. shifting was ALOT smoother. But you may be right that redline could have been better for transmission's

I researched around a few places before I swapped my transmission, and pretty much everyone said Redline was the best choice. Royal Purple and AmsOil came next.

The trick with the Redline is that you have to let it warm up a few minutes. If I take off immediately, it grinds going into 2nd gear for like the first 5 minutes. *shrug*

Well, I've no basis to compare AmsOil, so can't say it's not just as good, only that I'm very satisfied with Redline.

As for not liking 2nd...if I let it idle a minute or two (depending on the outside temp), then it's no problem.
