Hey guys,

I recently had a JDM takeout transmission installed on my 90 Q45 by Jerry Tucker. The transmission works great but I get a "Transmittion malfuntion" warning at start up every time I start the car. It goes away after about 30 seconds and I get an "OK", and the transmission functions normally. How can I make this go away?

Thanks for your help

Could this be the reason the transmission was in the Japanese junkyard to begin with? Use a Consult to read the tcu trouble codes to see what part of transmission needs replacing.Electrical harness corrosion?

You can check the codes the old fashioned way...

Warm the trans up sufficiently (temp gauge in the middle, drive for a little while), then do this....

This is all done without the enigne on.

1. Shift the car into drive2. turn the key back off, and while turning it on turn the trip reset thing counter clockwise. it should say AT CHECK, if it doesnt, turn the key off and try it the other way.3. shift the car into 34. press the gas all the way down and release5. Shift the car into 26. Shift the car into 17. press the gas all the way down and release...

Then maybe 20 seconds later it should give you a readout. Post back and we can go from there.

Just to clarify... the test is done with the engine off

Thanks for the info. I got the AT CHECK readout to display but nothing after that. I waited for about a minute. How long does it usually take? I'll try again.

Thanks again

Was the trans fully warmed up?? I know you may think it doesnt matter but it really does....

The car should be in drive when you are turning the thing to get it into AT CHECK. Then shift to 3rd, gas on/off, 2nd, 1st, gas on/off, then waitl.
