so I finally moved the car..after a week of sitting ( not register yet, still working on the body). I found a small pool of transmission fluid.

I hope it is just a hose, cause from what I remember Nissan are very anal about people adding their own transmission fluid ( they try to hide the dipstick, and very strict about only using genuine transmission directly from them, as well having only them service it). my question is I can see the Dipstick on my 300zx, unlike the other Nissan I had work on, and I dont plan to add any of generic brand fluid, but is it safe to just buy the real stuff and add it in myself? or this is something for just the Nissan Mechanic to do? my transmission is automatic. I still cant tell where the leak is coming from but I also dont plan to let my transmission run dry, and i check the dipstick it still in high level, so its not leaking a whole lot but it still something i am concern about. Also if anyone has any inquire of where the leak might be, or usually leak from please inform me. thanks!

I doubt its from your transmission, the power steering runs off of ATF. Especially if all the leaking is coming at the front of the engine.

Check the the return line at the reservoir and I think there is one that runs from pump to the rack. Those are the main hoses that lek and show ATF.

Look in the reservoir, the cap is the dipstick for the power steering.
