heres another issue from the past issue that i posted concerning cv axel replacement issues that i was having a while ago.

recently i have been noticing spots and tracking them only to figure out that its from the transmission. it only started after a replaced the right cv axel on my 1996 i30. i was about to take the car in to get serviced on another issue that was older but now i'm rethinking the whole thing if the transmission needs to be worked on.

any ideas what would have caused it after replacing the part? I made sure that it completely fit all the way back in but that brings up another issue it seems like the new cv was about 1/2 inch longer than the old one. I may get under car to investigate further as i've been too busy to do so.

If you did not replace the axle seal at the time of the axle replacement, that could be your problem. It's relatively an inexpensive part, but you have to take out the axle again in order to replace it. I would try to narrow down the location a bit more.

i am having a similar problem with a leak from the right side axle seal...

i recently replaced my automatic with a 5 speed transmission...

i bought a new driver side axle and was told at the parts store that the passenger side is the same UNLESS its a locking transmission...

i am assuming it is a non locking since locking ones seem to be rare...and i dont know how to tell between the two

anyway i installed the cv axle and it leaked badly...

kicking myself for not having remembering to replace the seals BEFORE installing the 5 speed...

i removed and replaced with the new seal installed the axle and it didnt leak for almost 2 days...

i then noticed a small drip and got a closer look at the new seal and wiped away what i thought was some excess oil...

but now it leaks worse...very frustrating
