My transmission needs a valve body replacement. I bought one but I seen someone say I have to take it to a dealership to get it tuned for my car, is that true? Also the transmission might have finished for good tonight and if i need a new one do i have to take it to a dealership to tune it?

I'm not certain that's accurate.

Replacing the trans with a known good one (say, a low-mile junkyard unit) should be sufficient - I can't imagine there's anything on a 03 model requiring a reflash of the ECU.

Okay so same year part should be fine.

What about If I wanted to run an HR from an 05
That should drop in and would it be just an 05 ecu and not much for wiring?

There were some changes to the VQ engine in 05 that may make a difference... I'd stick to 03-04 to be safe, but I'll wait for someone else to chime in.

Okay I'm going to get into it in a few days when it can be parked.
I just want to know what I'm getting into before i take it apart to avoid braking parts.
Cover off remove bolts from valve body
Unplug connections (4 I believe)

Pretty much it right?
I'll update when I get into it I'm going to scavenge some FSM.
