Transmission issue with 5th gear and reverse

I have a s15 motor with an s14 5 speed transmission and one day I was driving and went to shift into 5th and it went into the place of 5th gear and the shifter stayed there but it was like I was in neutral...the same thing happens when I am at a stop and ill put it directly in 5th and it does the same thing...the same thing happens in reverse as well... 1st through 4th work perfectly fine ...I just wasn't sure if it might be something stupid before I spend the money on getting another transmission

Reverse and 5th share the same cynchro I believe... And the same fork. Sounds like its tear down time.

That's what I was thinking...my brother in law seems to think it's just a bent fork and I tried to tell him they are on the same synchro but he didn't want to listen to me because he's big into v-8s and thinks he knows everything about everything...oh well s*** happens right
