Thanks for all of the info on the last post guys. My dilema is I dont have the money to totally fix the transmission. My plan is to see f I can salvage what's left or if not I will just cut my losses and sell it. So the question is what step should I take

#1 Drain sum of the fluid and replace 3-4 quarts or#2 Just drop the pan change the filter and all and just refill the fluid.

What are the potential downfalls for doing either action? What is the best fluid to put in afterwards?

I have been told that I run the risk of making the problem worse if I drop the pan? How true is that? Does the same hold true for a simple drain? Is Lucas good or bad? If it's bad whats a good additive to add if I should add anything other than ATF?

I know my questions may sum dumb to most but I truly appreciate the help and truthful guidance that I have been given thus far on this issue. Thank You.

Also for those who didnt see my other post I have a 1995 q45 158,000 miles It wi not shift out of 2nd gear. It does however shift fairly smoothly though when going from park to neutral to reverse to drive. The gears actually make the car sit a certain way. Very mooh though almost like a electroic balancing of sorts from gear to gear.

If you can't repair it correctly, sell it. There will be other more serious needs in the future (if there haven't already been in the past) that you won't be able to address and the repairs will be too expensive.

Save your money on the palliative procedures.
