Hey Everyone,

Question; Is it normai to have so much heat from the center console inside the car? It seems to get very warm and actaully heat up the edge of my seats. Also I am experiencing some execcesive spark knock, the car probably needs a tune-up (I just purchased it) are there any sensors or other parts that comonlly go out on these vehicls I should be aware of?

Thanks

Even with a tranny cooler, after a long drive the center area does get a litlte warm, not hot just warm.....

You need a tranny cooler, DEFINITELY.....

NO.. That has nothing to do with it, they improved it but that does not negate the necessity for it!!!!!!

Surprised about the spark knock, as it should not do that, you run premium at all times, yes?

ID take the car to autozone and see if you have any codes......

I just bought the car and have only filled it up one time (with premium). I will get a transmission coller installed. I will have to take it to a mechanic it only has 70,000 on it so hopefully it is nothing to serious.

Thans for the feedback

Thats interesting, under NO conditions should you get spark knock on the Q, even running 87 with bad knock sensors...

Are you *sure* its spark knock..

Knowing what I know (Which Is limited) if it is not spark knock it sounds like bad connecting rods. It only does it at low RPM's, like when you hit the gas real quik from a stop. It also does it when you are idling along and the transmission shifts into 2nd gear and you give it gas. It stops once you get the RPM's up.

My Q's center console gets really warm too.

Like if you put your hand near the shift lever you can feel really warm air coming up from it

Don't forget that his is a 96. I know it has knock sensors... but without VVT, how does the ECU compensate it "hears" knock?

Also, I accidentally filled up with Plus (89 Octane) and noticed spark knock... test drove one that had lots of it once - asked the owner and he said "i just run the cheap stuff... you don't really need premium"

Your not kidding. I left a candy bar there when I was driving for like an hour, and the bar was all melted.

I wonder with that much heat around the console AND knock both if his cat converters may be plugged? Just a thought.
