transmission harness

I got a quick question. I got mixed answers about the transmission harness. Originally i was told that there was no modification needed just a JDM instrument cluster. I have an 89' s13 with a redtop. I seen somewhere else that you need to change the speed sensor, rev senser, an one more sense i cant remember what it is called but i know what it is. Is this true or could i just use the JDM harness with no mods? The car is manual still so i dont know if that makes a difference. thnx for any help.

Alright for the gauge cluster you just need to get one out of a s14 KA24DE then that is it for the gauges.Now on the wiring its all the same just match the wires and your good to go.
