Alright so my 84 300zx just started grinding in all gears except fourth today (it is a 5 speed manuel) clutch down it is lessened at a stop but when moving position of clutch does not matter i recently replaced the timing belt clutch pressure plate release bearing intake plenum gasket plugs and and wires hydraulics for the clutch are working correctly and the car runs and drives great could it possibly be the transmissions bearings?

Did you check the fluid in the transmission?

These trannies aren't exactly known to be problematic. you said you replaced the Pp but not the clutch disk? The fact that you couldn't get the fill plug otu also bothers me, I'd get that thing out or break the case trying, these transmission's aren't had to find so I'd replace before a rebuild.

sorry i forgot to include the clutch in the list i had the flywheel resurfaced and replaced the clutch disk pressure plate and throw-out bearing i put some lucas in it today and the noise got a lot better but it is still there which makes me think it is an internal transmission problem and as far as a replacement i could hae gotten one from pullapart a month ago but i went just a few days ago and they had just crushed all 300s on lot so i would be looking at buying one from a transmission shop or possibly finding one online which i feel is worse than a junkyard as i cant just take it back and get another the car has had a hard life but i really didnt expect transmission problems from this car it only has about 160 k on it

if your breaking sockets the pipe wrench is only going to break them faster.

You'll need to torch it, don't worry about boiling the fluid, you'll drain it anyway... just try to localize the heat as much as you can to the plug.

Pipe wrench on the lug not the socket, the fill plug is a square lug, once you bite onto it with a pipe wrench and add a 4 foot cheater pipe it's coming out, might break the case but it's coming out.

I'm no expert on these transmission but wouldn't the heat burn up/melt the synchros?

Yeah, fill plug should be square male and the drain is a square female IIRC. Diff has both female, trans has the male fill plug.
