Hi, I just got my 240 and it always grinds going into 3rd gear (speed shifting) and also occationaly in 2nd (also speed shifting). What could it be? I did search the forum for the same problem and I guess it might be too much fluid? Or in need of a different fluid? The transmission fluid level is way high (over max).

Also, there is this rattle coming from the rear passenger rear area. It sounds pretty bad though. It seems to do it mainly when I'm stopping. I'm not even sure if it's the suspension but I feel like it is. Any idea? It sounds similar to the sound it makes when there is junk in the trunk rattleing around (but there isnt).

Also, I raced my friends 92 Trans Am and he took my by about 4 lengths, and he's running 15.6, so I'm pretty sure i'm in the 16s!! :) (That was my STOCK goal)

How do I know if my rear end is posi? When I take off it slides back and forth, my truck was an open dif and it didnt slide (tire would spin but it would stay straight because 1 tire is going straight and not spinning). Can I tell by my VIN or something if I have it? I know it was an option or something to have the Viscous...

Thanks everyone

David

Your synchros are probley going bad. Its a thing that sux, cause my second gear one is broken :( I heard double clutching is a way to get it to work, cause I cant downshift or anything to second without a grind, but I dont know how to dble clutch :(

Easiest way to tell if car has vlsd do a nice little burn out and look for 2 wheel marks or goto http://www.240sx.com under FAQ they have a section about VINS and VLSD
