transmission gone??

ok so i got my motorset from dee a few days ago, everything looks awesome huge thumbs up to dee, even tho it took a while, but the transmission will only shift into 1st gear :/ it seems to kinda go into second but not totally, wat is it? is it gone? BTW: its not in the car and running if u were wondering, transmission is off the motor

mine did this too when i 1st got it. wait till you get the car moving to see if anything is wrong. remember, who knows how long it has been sitting, so everything isn't going to work factory smooth to begin with.

Andy, I wouldn't worry about that just yet. Just like weldinghank says, these things sit for a while and things do get a bit stiff, but I'm pretty sure you're not locked out of 2nd gear. Rotate the the shaft and it should let you in.........We'll talk later.

When you are ready to start the car make sure you put oil in there and I am pretty sure that will solve your problem, worse comes to worse, just take the bell housing out and stick it on your KA transmission, both trannies have the same identical gear ratio

yea im not super worried about it, i know the ka transmission will work, just thought id ask b4 i rip into it

i just bought a used transmission from a parts yard for my car. when we got it back to my friends, he tried to move the shifter and it wouldnt go into anything but 1,2, and 4 but the input shaft would only rotate in 4th gear. not even when it was in neutral. is this something that would work out over time, just because it was sitting? or is the transmission bad?

Hmm, I suppose it could be because it's it's been setting, but it should still turn in neutral.

yea i took it back and got my refund. found another trans right down the road from them. that was was good, so we had it in and done last night. no more hideous noises comin from my transmission! wooooohoooo

now i just gotta get rid of my damn loud exhaust

well i go to drain it today and a pretty good amount of WATER came out of it lol, so im swapping the ka transmission onto the bellhousing later today, also, a little washer fell in the outlet of the intake side of the turbo, and i hooked up the blowing side of my shop vac to it inlet side of the turbo, blew the washer right out, but also 2 chunks of like oil goop came out, think thats just from the breather lines letting some oil into the turbo over the time it was in the car in japan? there isent much shaft play at all and the turbo looks in awesome condition, spins nicely n everything

I'd just spray some carb cleaner in there and clean it out really well.

ehh i alrdy swapped over the ka transmission, took liek an hour, and now ill have a longer 5th gear
