Just wondering what type of gear oil y'all run? I was thinking about 80-90w since I have a some left from another project. Or should I use something other. Thanks, Mike

O.k. thanks, I'll pick up some tomorrow and get the clutch pedal in and hopefully go for a spin.

Glad I asked. It would be a real beyoch to swap a transmission in and ruin it with wrong oil. I did try searching first but found nothing specific. One more question, how much does it hold? I'm gonna drain it all and put fresh in and don't want to buy too much. Sorry for the lame questions. I have two manuals kickin' around here but they are lost in the shuffle at the moment. (been years since I've needed them) Thanks again.

Well I bought a gallon and had plenty. I got the clutch pedal in and fired it up. It sounds good, no rattles or knocks or smoke. The transmission pulls good in all gears and no slippage in the clutch.
I eliminated all vac lines 'cept the dizzy. Seems to have more rev/spunk than the old motor. I can get my money back just by junking the body. Only 250 for the whole truck. Just gotta get the console and boot put back together and tie the exhaust back together. I sawzalled it into in a haste to get the old junk out. Piece of flex and a couple clamps will take care of that. While I've got it down there, I'm gonna swap the front bumper with a straight one I've had for three years waiting to be put on. Also put the 84 grille on in place of the 85 I think it just looks better. More later on......Mike
