First of all, I don't know if this thread goes here or not. If not, MODS please move....

Second, I have a 1991 automatic fastback, 240,000 miles

Anyway, here's my deal:

Whenever I slow down and then have to get back up to speed quickly, my car bogs BIG TIME. It'll just hover between 2,000-2,500 rpms.

Because of this, lately I've been manually downshifting with OD off to see if that helps any. Sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn't (like today).

Today, I slowed down to a crawl from about 55 mph on a hill. Before I got on the gas, I turned off the OD and shifted to 2nd. She did not seem to like it. In fact the more gas I gave, the more the rpms dropped.

Also, OD doesn't seem to work for a while when the engine's cold.

I needs some help people. I did a search and there wasn't much and they were from like 2007.

Is the engine throwing any codes? Cause you have to solve any other driveability problems before you can go to or assume its the transmission.

My mechanic did a diagnostic a while back. The only coming up was timing and the knock sensor, I believe. I'm really not too sure anymore. I had problems with rough idle before but he fixed it...

Well both those things listed would cause those kinds of symptoms. Try getting that figured out first and if it still exist then you can move on to diagnosing the transmission.

Thanks for the help. My mechanic is guessing a fuel problem, but we're working on my exhaust for now (trying to pass emissions).

Anyway, I'm just getting second opinions in the mean time.

(sighs) So many things to fix, so little time and money
