transmission from e to de?

I tried searching but couldntt find any information on the transmission interchange. Will the transmission work off of my 1989 nissan 240sx sohc to the dohc engine?I am wanting to swap I can get everything for the motor including the motor for under 300 but I need to know if I have to change the transmission also? Any info would be appreciated.

i appreciate the info and i have read that and i dont remember reading in there it uses the same transmission. so even the clutch kit from flywheel to pressure plate will fit also?

I am not sure about the clutch and flywheel being the same. Maybe you can compare part numbers somewhere.
