Transmission for a 1998 QX4

My fiance and I just purchased a used 1998 QX4 for a good price, knowing the transmission needs replacing, but I'm having some issues finding one. I know that a '97-'99 transmission from a QX4 would work fine, but to open options up, I'm wondering if a similar year Pathfinder transmission would work. The RE4R041A Transmissions were used in many different vehicles. Would those work?

Yes, any 96-00 Pathfinder / QX4 transmission will work.

If I were to put a Pathfinder transmission into it, would I need to change anything, such as the electronics?

It should bolt right up and be electrically compatible. People swap in 01-03 Xterras into their 87-95 Pathfinders and don't change the TCM so I believe there shouldn't be a problem in your case.

Alright, then. No changes from the different computer or anything else? The availability of the pathfinder transmissions is much higher.
