7500 Miles for me, Twice a year. One drain and refill. The second with a filter change, and refill. That is the standard here for me living in Las Vegas.

If by flush you mean a mechanical fluid exchange, then it depends on auxiliary cooler or not, mountains and high speeds or not, urban or highway, synthtetic or not, etc.

Best to exhcange the fluid before you notice any degradation.

A flush technically is a chemical additive to keep contaminants in solution so they will be expelled when teh fluid is completely exchanged. A good recent thread in IOM that discusses and quotes older posts on this subject.

Ever try reading Q45tech's posts? He is the only one who has documented his maintenance routine and quantified his transmission's performance over 173K.

I think it wouldn't be a bad idea to drain the pan every other oil change which for me would be about 10K miles. I haven't made this a rigid habit yet but when I use ramps to change the oil then its an easy move to drain the transmission pan and refill with 4 quarts.

Now this assumes that you do your own work, if I had to pay somebody I would change the fluid at about 30K or so.

Toyota/Lexus use a premium synthetic ATF in V8 [not in old I6/V6 models] and require an annual pan drain [roughly the same 3+ quarts in a Q sump. If this annual 3+ quarts is replaced [30% new additives] the need for a full chemical flush is pushed out above 100K.

Going to Mobil 1 Syn ATF and doing the same ANNUAL PAN DRAIN PROCEEDURE might work after an intial clean up.

ALL DEPENDS ON THE ATF COLOR RATE OF CHANGE FROM HEAT.

I wonder if Brian is still with us after reading qtechs post about a single annual pan drain/refill, or if he is lying on the floor in front of his computer having a coronary attack?

Brian and I have a long standing difference of opinion regarding the effectiveness of multiple pan drains VS machine fluid exchanges here on Nico- probobly dating back 5 years or so....mean time my original transmission still operates like new at 213,000 miles.Other than this friendly difference of opinion, Brian and I are on the same wavelength as far as aggressive proactive maintenance being the best way to prolong the life of the Q while maximising driving enjoyment.A newbie following his advice may spend some coin, but would not be steered wrong.
