Hey guys I was wondering how often should I change my transmission fluid. I have an 2008 altima with 45k is it about that time? If so should I take it to the dealer ship to do it because I read a lot of stuff about people taking there cars to local shops to change there fluids then having transmission issue a couple thousand miles later. What your take on this?

The official word from Nissan is to have it changed when necessary. I think they hook your car up to the consult 3 or something (could be totally wrong) and check the current state of your fluid.

All depends on how much you drive it. I have 40K on my coupe and the first 30K was put on it the first year. ever since then I'm lucky if I put 3K per year on the car since it sits in the garage for most of the year. Pull out the dip stick and make sure the fluid is still clear and it doesn't smell burnt. 60K is the norm according the Nissan Teck I spoke to to have it checked...not changed.
