Hey guys as of today I've had my car for a year (1 year anniversary). And its time to change the transmission fluid. I'm going to put Mobile1 synthetic in. the thing is I have factory fluid in there and I was wondering would I screw up the transmission to mix the fluid?!?!

Hmmm... there may be a compatibility issue. What year I30?

What fluid type does owners manual suggest?

There is a TSB about why they recommend Special Nissamatic D as best ATF .......low ash ATF. When some low to lesser quality ATF overheats it breaks down and deposits ash and varnish on clutch faces.

Synthetics are ashless [other than metallic additives] and the higher destruction temperatue assures they won't break down.

Dexron minimum spec ATF are made by dozens of companies without detailed specs you only know they are somewhere around the Dexron spec.

Mixing ATF just assures that what ever the lowest quality component is that is the one that prevails.

Hence the recommended fluid exchange (flush) when changing ATF, PS, or hydraulic fluids.
