Wanting to be proactive, and based on my experience with my 2003 G35 sedan, I called my dealer to schedule a transmission fluid change on the used 2011 QX56 we recently purchased (it hit 30K miles a few days ago). The car's maintenance book listed transmission oil change at 30K as an option.

To my surprise, they said it should be at 45k. I called another dealer, and they said it was at 90K? Researching the NICO forums, I found this TSB on transmissions,

and that got me suspecting that Infiniti wants the 4 year 60K warranty to expire so they are off the hook with any potential expenses.

Am I being too much of a conspiracy theorist? What are your experiences with transmission fluid changes? At what point did you have it done? Thanks!

many people change their own fluids. if you have have a garage or personal workspace, you can do this yourself and save some cash.

to give you an answer though, i do what the dealer suggests. if something happens, i have it in writing and its done at a dealer so they are on the hook, not me.

Thanks Marctronixx. My thoughts exactly. I have scheduled the trans fluid change with my dealer. Followed the same protocol for my '03 G35 when it was still under warranty. Infiniti may be more reliable than most cars, but one can never be too sure.

The transmission should have extended coverage by the power train warranty. Changing the fluid at 30k miles can also depend on driving condition/style. Since the car was purchased used....go ahead and get the fluid changed for added piece of mind.
