Hey guys, the last time I took my S14 rb25det to the track in Lil Talladega, it seems to be having trouble getting into gear after about 15-20 minute. Im guessing the transmision fluid is buring up. Im going again in June, and want to see what kind of transmission fluid you guys are using to help with the issue. Thanks

Ive always used synromesh because its at advance and autozone and its cheap and wont eat the syncros in the transmission.

Could also be your clutch too, Ive mine to disengage as high up on the pedal as possible. That way you can shift faster and it allows for wear and heat etc etc. I also removed the clutch dampener that helped too.

redline superlightweight shockproof.

also, sounds like its low on fluid. transmission fluid in a manual trans doesnt "burn up" like in an auto.

what weight is everybody running? also, how much fluid does the rb25det take again? Are redline available locally? I think i remember using some redline product a while back....it might have been water wetter or something though...

Just like Alex, I also use syncromesh on older transmissions with worn syncros with great success. At autozone it goes my pennzoil syncromesh and is identical to the GM syncromesh sold at the GM dealer but the pennzoil is much less $$.

In a trans with less mileage on it or with syncros that aren't as worn I would use anice high quality fluid like RL or amsoil.

Went to the track yesterday with mt90/shockproof.....gear engagement is great and didnt have "stuck in gear" after running at the tracks. It was 100 yesterday. But now I have coolant temp problem...

ive run redline, royal purple mobil 1, and none of them compare to amsoil! severe gear 75w-90 will be run in my transmission until the day its gone!

another thing, i was hearing a loud whining noise from the transmission when under load in 4th before switching to amsoil. less than 500 miles after switching to amsoil the noise was gone. ive changed all my lubricants to amsoil and use it in all my vehicles, bikes, even lawnmovers lol.
