okay, so i have this problem with my transmission. during normal driving 1-2 & 3-4 shift is perfect but when it comes to 2-3 shift, it flares up like it doesnt want to go into gear. then during hard acceleration from about 40 mph; instead of going right into the next gear.....it flares all the way to red line then takes off.

i had my transmission rebuilt at the end of august and everything was ok....2 weeks later my MAF sensor blew.....my car sat over the weekend until i got a new one....once it was replaced, i tested it at full speed. thats when i noticed the flaring between 2-3. it didnt occur until after i replaced my MAF sensor.

i called the transmission place that rebuilt my transmission. they told me i have a bad MAF. i know what a bad MAF is.....and i doubted if that was the problem....when my MAF went bad, my car barely got over 2k while driving. so i replaced it with 2 other MAFs; testing each one after replacement. same "flaring situation". when i blew my first MAF long time ago, i replaced it with no problems. it blows again...now this!!!

what do u think the transmission "flaring" is? i appreciate ur help.

Did the shop that did the rebuild install a shift kit as part of the rebuild. Some shift kits can make for delayed shifting with a sort of prolonged rpm "flaring" between gears or right before shifting.

Other possibilities...

Is the transmission fluid filled to the correct level? (check it if you haven't--when I had mine rebuilt the shop significantly overfilled the trans, which had results similar to what you're describing).

Correct trans fluid type?
