Howdy folks!
I'm going to be getting the transmission of my 2001 QX4 rebuilt in the next month or two, and it's occurred to me that the transmission being pulled presents a unique opportunity for shenanigans. Two things come to mind:
1. Have them install a shift kit - really, there is no better time to do that.
2. Get the transfer case inspected and its fluids changed. I've replaced the differential fluids recently but skipped the transfer case once I saw where it was located (more than I cared to bite off at the time).
I'm wondering if anyone has any groovy ideas of other things that can or should be done then. Notably, performance enhancements and preventative maintenance. The place I'm going to also specializes in transfer cases, axles, and seemingly anything gear-related.
Also, are there shift kits available for the QX4? I'm assuming so, but have no idea what to look for. Does anyone have any experience or recommendations for them? About how much do they run and is it worth it?
Thanks in advance!
