I have a 93 Infiniti G20 and recently the exchange trans and the new trans are having the same problem. The car will some time not change smoothly from 2nd gear and other times it will. What could be the problem with the changing of gears ? I was thinking it may be the speed sensor but I don't know...... Im sorry this is a automatic auto.......

Do you mean the shift is hard, or late, or not at all?
There is a fluid additive (from Nissan) to address a hard shift.
Is that why you replaced the trans?

The reason I replace it because I thought it being 23 yrs old that it was probably worn out. I had been doing recent flulds exchanges with the new machines at Jiffy Lube but the filter has not been changed, I did change the filter and fuild before getting a different transmission,. However I have had to go thru gears in the valve body before tryin to drive it. Now It change more but very seldom holds in second without changing. What is the name of the additive and when should I try to add it. Can it just be added now without draining or take some out?

I think at this point if you can tell me if this additive from Nissan, can be be just added to the fluid or how it should be added.? I may have given too much detail but I appreciate your concern and know.ledge on this issue my NICO member.

it is added to the fluid. It is only to address a hard 1-2 shift. T
here is a bulletin concerning it, any Nissan or Infiniti dealer can pull it up and get the part #.
I am away from work until next week but can get you the number then if you don't before then.
Good luck

The part # of the additive is 31003-31X61, it has a list price of $25.45.
Again, it was only intended to address a hard shift- nothing else, and frankly I don't think it worked very well.
In fact, it appears the bulletin has been withdrawn so maybe Nissan came to the same conclusion.
If you still want to try, and cant find it locally I have a source.
Pm me if you want to get some that way.
