After reading all the warnings about maintaining the transmission with fluid changes, filters and flushes, I'm considering installing an aftermarket (HAYDEN) transmission cooler and in-line filter on my 91 Q. I've installed Hayden coolers on previous cars and they are easy to install and work well. No experience with in-line filters but it sounds like a good idea in theory. I plan to get the largest cooler that will easily fit in front of the condensing unit and hook up the filter upstream. Your thoughts on the subject will be greatly appreciated.

I agree and have done same with my earlier Q (excpet I skipped the extra filter).

The preferred position for a transmission cooler in a Q is between the radiaator and AC condensor (under all the black plastic).

Other also like the postion used in a actsus car for the actsus cooler which is vacated on a base +t model.

A cooler gets nice unrestricted air there but only smaller coolers fit at that position.

One Q had a Hayden the other a B&M both at the location mentioend above.

Thanks Fred,Perma Cool makes a transmission filter kit that uses oil filter cartridges (Fram 8A). That could make dropping the pan a thing of the past.

I just realized I prob need to clarify: the quote that refers to my 2 coolers. they were between rad and condensor, not the actusus cooler location.
