I have a car that uses a VG30det and same trans as the 90+ 300zThe problems Iam having are the following:

-car doesnt not beep when in reverse-gaug cluster does not show what gear the transimission is in-car is extremely slow when moving from a dead stop-reverse lights dont work

I talk to a friend and all we have come up w/ is maybe it is the TCM (transmission control module) since all this happened at the same time! The car is a 1994 Nissan Gloria Grand Turismoit does come w/ the HICAS 4 wheels steering. At first I thought the e-beake cable might be stuck or one of the rear capilars siezed, but after further inspection on the car niether of thouse are wrong, and figured it has to be something else.As any of you delt w/ this tyoe of problem?if so what were you symptoms and how did you fix it...?thank you for your help

is the car suppoesd to beep in reverse? I'm not familiar with anything other than trucks that do this from the factory? also with the lights and no beep both stopping at the same time, is it possible you have the beeping backup lights that you can buy a any local parts store and they simply burnt out? again I have no experience with this but the beeping backup seems kinda wierd, also you say you have a display on your dash indicating gear? so this is an auto? (of course i don't think the 5 speed has a control midule either) in the 5 speeds the backup lights are triggered by a seperate sensor, not sure on the auto

and if the car is slow starting from a stop what if you put the car in first then try leaving from a stop? is it still slow? you may have lost first gear and could be in need of a transmission rebuild, or a dead servo or control module

have you had a diagnostic run? most mechanic's can hookup and look for codes in detail

You can put the TCM into diagnostic mode, probably the same way you do it on the Z... I would try that and see what it comes up with.

Hi I have the same problem, did you find the fault?
Can anyone help with advice?

Symtoms:
Car doesnt not beep when in reverse
Reverse lights dont work
Wont Change from 2nd to 3rd year unless pedal is floored, reverts to high rev when throttle pedal is released.
Wont go into 4th gear.
Nissan say TCM com fault so either broken cable or faulty auto TCM?
Sometimes drives normal after 30 minutes of driving, very odd!

Anyone got a Transmission Control Module (aka TCM - TCU - ECM - Control Unit Shift) to suit a 1994 300ZX Twin Turbo 2+2.
My Part Number is 31036 46P20. Chasis No: GCZ32-5463**

Sounds more like a TPS sensor issue to me. Run transmission diagnostics.

If everything comes back OK, check to make sure your TPS isn't plugged in backwards somehow. Someone on here had that issue before.

Also, Z's aren't supposed to beep in reverse, just so you know.

And about the backup lights, make sure the reverse sensor is plugged in correctly and is functional.
