transmission computer '90 240sx

I have a '90 auto 240sx. I recently had the transmission replaced, but the car is still having problems. I've been told these problems could be related to the transmission computer. I haven't been able to find much information about a transmission computer except it might be located somewhere in the right hand dash. I know the ecu is located in the passenger side kick panel, but what about the transmission computer? Also is there a way to read error codes off this computer? Do i need a special device or do I have to take it to the dealer? thanks
