I live in Southern Calif. & own a 2006 M45 with 28K miles on it. I have owned the car sense new (about 2 1/2 years). Very recently, the transmission has started to make a rather loud (sometimes REAL LOUD) clunk when it shifts from 2nd into 3rd. This happens for about four or five shift cycles, & then it goes away. It apparantly has something to do with the transmission "warming up" properly?? The dealer is telling me "This is normal."
My questions are: 1. What is causing this?2. Why didn't it do it for the first two years we owned the car?3. Why doesn't my friends M do it as well?4. Why didn't the car we drove at the dealer do it, & or, why weren't we told of this condition?
We are considering selling the car, but who would buy it when it sounds like the transmission is going to blow up any time! I sure wouldn't.
I hope you can help?
Thank you..... Jim C.
PS.. I searched the forum & founf two other floks that has reported this same condition., but didn't see an explanation that made any sense, as I live in a warm climate (not where it's 25 degrees).
