transmission clunk

it only happens when i'm gettin on her but as i clutch it at the top of every gear it just seems to slam out of gear w/ a big jolt. any ideas?tonight i was drivin and got to the top of second, clutch and blam nothin. i kept the clutch in and there were no longer gears, the shifter was completely free, i could slap it all over the place but no gear. then all of a sudden it just got better and went into 5th. i've babied it since then but i don't wanna end up far from home with my transmission on the street. what could all this be. thanks

sounds like possibly your shifter bushing broke. Does the shifter have alot of play in it now? does it freely move all over when in gear?

sweet. it's fixed. i went out and and yanked up on it and it popped right out. one of those little c pins was in the wrong place which i guess i did when i replaced the clutch+flywheel.thanks nistech, i can't even coun't how many times you've saved me now.peace
