I bought my 2004 automatic 4 cylinder Frontier 2 years ago. At some point I noticed it usually gives a clunk when it goes into second gear (and no other gear). It is not entirely consistent. Is that normal or a problem? Any ideas?

How's the fluid look? Is it brown in color? How's it smell...burnt? Is the level good on the dipstick?

Maybe if I have my transmission fluid changed it might solve the problem. Is that correct?

It's helped some but not all. I'd definitely start by checking it at the very least.
