Yesterday I ordered a can of BG quick clean for AT's..... I did a full fluid exchange last fall, but I want to do it again and try and clean the trans out a little bit..

I definitely will do a pan drop, however im not sure about the filter. Last time I did the filter its just a screen, and i dont see how anything could get caught in that loose mesh, and if aynthing DID get caught in there the trans is likely screwed.... Since its metal it can probably be cleaned if anything is in it.

At any rate, im wondering how long I should leave the stuff in there.... I woudl assume id want to leave it in there for like 15 mins.... Im also wondering how you guys think it would be to drop the pan.... im thinking just adding the stuff in after fully warming up, and then dropping the pan... however if the consensus is to drop the pan and clean it first, then run the stuff through, then clean the pan again i can do that.. The pan is easy to get out. I think it might be overkill though... However i certainly dont want to losen any material that could be in the pan and send it up in the trans....

I was going to ask the same question.

I just had my transmission fluid serviced using the BG Power Flush and Fluid Exchange. It’s been about 30,000 miles since I last had the standard pan drop/filter change and had Mobil1 synthetic ATF put in. The BG service I had done included the BG quick clean, and the fluid replacement with the BG Universal Synthetic ATF.

The one concern I had was that there was no filter change. The explanation given was that the flush actually cleanses the filter, which appears to be consistent with the BG protocol. I was thinking I would change it with the next oil change (if it's neccesary).

I have to say this stuff works great!. Shifting performance is noticeably better, it’s quicker, or at least more responsive to the throttle action, shifts under acceleration are much smoother. Shifting from reverse to drive, and vice versa, is completely passive, where before I could feel the gear change. It’s a nuance, but that's the kind of thing that reminds you of the Q's refined nature.

Back to Q45tech's old post where he cut the screen apart and looked at the trapped aprticles under a microscope.

You cannot see everything that is in the screen with the naked eye. New screen always used with pan drop.

much, much, much more important to replace external canister filter than the metal screen,as the filter element in the canister traps small particles, whereas the filter screen lets small particles pass through it.If the screen is plugged enough to impede fluid flow...........you would not be driving your q,as the transmission would have self destructed before screen would clog.

For those that don't have the external oil type filter..............a $30 add well worth 50 times as much.
