Transmission Buying

Hey, at the end of the week im going to look at a manual transmission. Is there anything i can really look at to figure out if its a good transmission or not, pretty sure, it will be out of the car. thanks

well you never really know for sure until you use it. does it have a lot of miles on it?

idk i didnt even ask, all that was said was it shifts perfectly, but u can never take someones word

what would be a high mileage number for a transmission? over 130k im guessing?

well it could have a bunch of miles and still be in good shape, or it could have low miles and be beat to hell. i guess if it had like 250k on it i would probably keep looking. 240 transmissions dont seem to have a lot of problems, at least as far as i have seen.
